The Central Election Commission held a draw related to distribution of free airtime allocated for the candidates Presidency

On March 19, 2018 The Central Election Commission held a draw of free airtime allocated by the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of the Presidential Candidates on the Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed on April 11, 2018.

It was noted that the registration of candidates for presidency has already been completed, 8 candidacies have been registered and the pre-election campaign started on March 19, 2018.
According to the Election Code, presidential candidates have twice as much time as 6 hours per week for the broadcasting rights of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company to ensure the right to receive airtime on a free basis. Three days a week, at least once every week, at 19:00 on the radio, at 22.00 on the initiative of the registered candidates and candidates, at the initiative of the registered political parties, within the capacities of the organization that has provided the agreed airtime between the Central Election Commission and the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, and will be handed over to television users. According to the decision of the Central Election Commission, the allocated airtime in the legislation, a preliminary lottery commission was set up to distribute the allocated airtime between subjects entitled to use that time in accordance with the procedure established by the legislation and the date and time of the drawing. Afterward the draw was held with the participation of authorized representatives of registered candidates, international observers and mass media representatives, and the sequence of placement and the appointment of candidates for presidency or their authorized representatives "round table" were determined.

The Central Election Commission decided to publish the results of the lottery and publish the airtime division timetable in according to the Electoral Code.
