Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on July 8, 2005.

Firstly, decision was adopted on the approval of session minutes dated on May 30, June 4, June 18 and June 22, 2005.

Later, Mr. Natig Mammadov, CEC Secretary reported on the draft of Instruction "on opening specific election accounts and its registration, rule of accounting, as well as rules for entrance and expenditure of election funds of candidates, registered candidates, political parties and political party blocs in Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. The Commission adopted decision on the approval of this document.

Mr. Vidadi Mahmudov, another CEC Secretary reported on the draft of Instruction "on rules for the distribution of funds among election commissions allocated for the preparation and conduct of Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the state budget and control on the usage of the mentioned funds on the destination”. CEC adopted decision on the approval of this Instruction, too.

At the session, decision was adopted on considering invalid of the "Instruction on rules for the establishment of voters initiative groups and nomination of candidates by the citizen`s own initiative or by the voters initiative group in Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan” approved by CEC Decision # 06/44 dated on June 23, 2004.

Furthermore, CEC adopted decision on making amendments in the compositions of some Constituency Election Commissions.

At CEC session, current issues were also discussed.

Representatives of IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems), domestic and foreign mass media also participated at the session.
