The Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on June 4, 2005.
Firstly, CEC Chairman reported on the first issue included in the agenda – "Duties of election commissions related to the executive order by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan " on improving election practice in the Republic of Azerbaijan”. CEC approved decision draft on this issue. Plan for activities related to the execution of this order by President was approved and attached to this decision.
Later, Mrs. Svetlana Gasimova, CEC Deputy Chairman reported on the issue of changes in territories and names of some constituencies. The Commission adopted decision on changing territories and names of some constituencies.
Central also adopted decisions on making amendments in the compositions of Nakhchivan city Con.EC # 4, Khatai first Con.EC # 33 and Guba Con.EC # 52.
At the end of session, current issues were also considered.
Representatives of IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems) and domestic mass media also participated at CEC session.
