The delegation of Rapporteur Group on Democracy of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe met with Mr.Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission on April 8, 2015.

After the welcome of the visitors, CEC Chairman expressed his gratitude for the meeting and spoke about the long-term relationship of CEC with the Council of Europe and its different organizations. He emphasized on the importance of relationship between the organization led by him and leading international organizations, as well as, the Council of Europe and continuing bilateral beneficial cooperation in different election fields.

Mr.Alexander Gessel, head of the delegation expressed his thankfulness for warm welcome by CEC and interest about the activities and projects to be carried out for the upcoming elections in the country. The chairman of the Commission replied to the visitors’ questions and informed on the steps to be put in the elections, also on the projects majority of which are planned to be co-implemented with international organizations.

During the meeting the Council of Europe and CEC exchanged views on the issues of mutual interest.
