All the polling stations are fully ready for the Municipal Elections to be held on December 23, 2014. 37 thousand 77 candidates for 15 thousand 35 municipality membership on 1607 municipalities will take part in the elections.

According to AzerTac, Mr.Mazahir Panahov, CEC Chairman informed on that in the press conference regarding the Municipal Elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 22, 2014.

CEC Chairman spoke about the preparations to the elections and informed that 4 million 819 thousand 382 voters whose entries have been included will vote in 15 polling stations. The polling stations will be opened to the voting at 08.00 and closed at 19.00 on December 23, 2014. 13 thousand 907 of the candidates have been nominated by 8 political parties, 23 thousand 61 on their own initiatives and 109 by initiative groups. 18 thousand 284 of the candidates who joined elections are independent. Totally, there are representatives of 30 political parties among candidates.

"Webcams have been installed in 1000 polling stations on 118 election constituencies in the country”, - Mr.Panahov stated and informed that it constituted 20% of the polling stations. Monitoring of the voting process in those polling stations is available from any part of the world. In general, the number of the observers registered in these elections has exceeded 50 thousand. More than 26 thousand of them are representatives of political parties. "Although Local and Regional Authorities Congress of the Council of Europe has been sent an invitation letter to participate in the observation of the elections, the organization informed that they would not be able to participate as observers in the voting due to the compactness of their programs”, - CEC Chairman informed.
