CIS mission stated that the presidential elections in Azerbaijan were held in accordance with the constitution, law norms of the Republic of Azerbaijan and international standards, says CIS mission`s statement which will be published after the announcement of the election results, the Independent Press Center said.
In accordance with the early assessment, the mission visited 1973 polling stations, beginning from September 10 witnessed a thorough work for preparations for the elections, head of the CIS mission Sergey Lebedev told the press conference on Thursday.
The mission aimed, according to him, to monitor if voters` rights are violated and whether elections meet the requirements of the country`s legislation.
According to Lebedev, multiple meetings held in Azerbaijan both with the presidential candidates and representatives of the government enabled the mission to get an objective picture of the elections.
The electoral process, according to the CIS observers, was orderly from the technical point of view as well since there were transparent ballot boxes and web cameras installed in 1000 polling stations.
The presence of medical stations and rooms for children, according to Lebedev, also contributed to the convenience of the voters.
The voting for people who were unable to come to the polling stations was ensured, he noted.
According to the CIS mission head Lebedev, the group composed of diplomats, members of the central election commissions, 6 heads of CIS CECs visited many regions.
"No rampant irregularities were registered although we saw some minor misunderstandings of the election procedure. In some cases, we, unfortunately, witnessed the polling stations opening late,” he said.
According to Lebedev, minor violations could not influence the election results.
Upon completion of observation, the mission has prepared a draft statement, which will be made public later.
