The observation mission of the Italian senate held a monitoring at 8 polling stations in Baku and Sumgait where it noted great desire of active civil society of Azerbaijan to build future with its own hands, head of the observation mission of the Italian Senate Sergio Divino told the press conference at the Independent Press Center.

There was an atmosphere of discipline at the polling stations, and electoral processes were orderly, said Divino.

Notwithstanding the large flow of voters, the stations operated in an organized manner.

"We witnessed only one case when the voter was denied an access to the voting, but it turned out that he confused the number of the polling station where he had to cast his vote,” Divino said.

The elections in Azerbaijan were conducted in a free and democratic atmosphere.

Member of the Senate`s mission Mauro Maurice also noted the good organization of the electoral process in Azerbaijan. According to him, the mission praised the procedure of marking voters` fingers. It helps to strengthen the democratic procedures in the electoral process.

We saw a step forward at each station with respect to the development of democracy in Azerbaijan.
