The elections in Azerbaijan were conducted in line with international standards, representative of the upper house of the UK parliament Michael German, member of the UK-Azerbaijan friendship group told a press conference at the Independent Press Center.

"I was involved not only in observation of elections but also in the vote count,” he said. According to him, the voters expressed full confidence to the election process.
There were no significant irregularities recorded, he said. The election day proved that Azerbaijan has achieved great progress in development of democracy, German said.

According to the UK representative, all election procedures met international standards and minor mistakes can be easily corrected.

The MP said that the great number of observers invited to the country claim that Azerbaijan sought to conduct elections freely and fairly.

The citizens of Azerbaijan, according to him, can easily express their opinion and make their choice.

"The desire and willingness of people to participate in the elections and even queues at the polling stations suggest great civil activity,” he pointed out.

The organization of TV debates is a good practice and the atmosphere of free debates set the stage for the development of democracy, German concluded.
