CEC Chairman met with members of Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries

Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic speaking Countries (TurkPA) arrived in Azerbaijan for the observation of the Presidential elections on October 9, 2013 met with Mr.Mazahir Panahov, CEC Chairman at the Central Election Commission on October 2, 2013.

The delegation of TurkPa expressed their honor of the observation of the elections in a brother country and inquired about the election system, organizational principles of the election institutions and their activity directions in Azerbaijan.

CEC Chairman thoroughly informed the visitors on the election system, activity of election institutions and Presidential elections in Azerbaijan. Mr.Mazahir Panahov informed on the readiness of the polling stations to the voting. Video clips on the voting procedures and calling to elections, prepared by the Central Election Commission are regularly broadcasted on TV channels within the country. Notifications on the place and time of the voting are prepared and distributed to voters. Different posters on the voting day are prepared and displayed in densely-populated areas.

It was stated that more than 40 thousand observers, as well as, nearly 1300 international observers have been registered and web cameras have been installed in 20% of 5491 polling stations so far.

CEC Chairman also replied to other questions interesting to the visitors related to the preparation for the election process.
