OSCE Chairman-in-Office's special coordinator for observation of presidential elections in Azerbaijan, deputy head of the French delegation to the OSCE PA Michel Voisin and head of the France-Azerbaijan friendship group in the French National Assembly Thierry Mariani met with CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov on September 18, 2013.

Having expressed his thanks to warm greeting, M.Voisin noted that they had arrived in Azerbaijan for observing the upcoming Presidential elections and requested on the information on the current election institutions within the Republic of Azerbaijan, principles of observation, other requirements rooted from the election legislation and conditions of pre-election preparation.

Chairman of the Commission informed the visitors thoroughly on the legal norms determined for the implementation of citizens’ active and passive voting rights in the election legislation of Azerbaijan and spoke about the activities taken by the Commission led by him for the conduct of free and fair elections. He noted on special importance given to the cooperation with international organizations by him and informed that the majority of the educational projects had been implemented jointly with these organizations.

Views were also exchanged on other issues relating to the elections preparation at the meeting.

The visitors thanked CEC Chairman for detailed information and wished success in the preparation and conduct of the elections.
