Members of PACE Special Committee's Pre-election Mission to Azerbaijan visited Central Election Commission

PACE Special Committee’s delegation on monitoring of the Presidential elections on 9 October 2013, led by Robert Walter met with CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov at Central Election Commission.

CEC Chairman expressed his honor for the implementation of observation mission in the upcoming Presidential elections.

The head of the mission emphasized the essence of the observation institution in the elections and important role of CEC in the conduct of elections.

The head of the delegation inquired about pre-election atmosphere in the country.

Chairman informed on pre-election atmosphere in the country and talked about the activities taken by the commission led by him for the preparation and conduct of the elections. Reporting on the measures necessary for ensuring citizens’ election rights, M.Panahov informed on all legal steps put for making the polling stations within the country ready for voting. He stated that all the persons applying for observation to the commission are positively replied for ensuring transparency. The Commission Chairman informed that basing on the practice of previous elections, the upcoming elections are supposed to be monitored by ten thousands of observers.

M.Panahov replied to the visitors’ questions and informed thoroughly on broad educational program implemented by CEC.

Mission members thanked CEC Chairman for detailed information and exchanged views on the opportunities of cooperation during the upcoming elections.
