Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on April 18, 2006.
Firstly, session minutes adopted by the Commission, dated on April 4, 2006 were approved.
Later, Mr. Natig Mammadov, CEC Secretary reported on the approval of the format, text and number of ballot papers in repeat elections to the third call Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 13, 2006.
Besides approving the format and text of ballot papers, Central Election Commission decided that according to the information on the number of the voters included in permanent voter lists, 402.224 ballot papers shall be prepared in total providing not to exceed 3 % of the voters’ number on each of 10 constituencies.
Mrs. Svetlana Gasimova, CEC Deputy Chairman and Mrs. Tamam Jafarova, CEC Commissioner reported on the issue of making amendments in the compositions of some Constituency Election Commissions (Con.ECs). Central Election Commission adopted decisions on making amendments in the compositions of some Con.ECs.
The appeals entered the Commission were also put under discussion. One of the appeals was sent to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the investigation and two of them were sent to relevant Con.ECs on their determination.
At the session, current issues were also considered.
At the CEC session, representatives from the embassies of the USA and Great Briatain, IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems) and mass media also took part.
