The session of the Central Election Commission was conducted by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on June 21, 2004.

In the session, the approval of the Calendar Plan on the basic activities and measures for the conduct of by-elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan on October 19, 2004 in constituencies #24 Nizami first, # 29 Sabail and # 101 Khanlar Dashkasan was discussed.

It is notable that by-elections were appointed for the vacant deputy mandates.

Mr. Mazahir Panahov, CEC Chairman who reported on the issue stated that the Calendar Plan by CEC on the conduct of by-elections in the mentioned three constituencies was prepared on June 18, 2004 according to the order of Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Mr. Ingilab Nasirov, CEC Secretary reported on the Calendar Plan on the basic activities and measures for the conduct of by-elections on October 19, 2004.

The Commission decided to adopt the Calendar Plan as a basis.

At the end of the session, current issues were discussed.

Representatives of IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems), of domestic and foreign mass media participated in the CEC session.
