The Central Election Commission (CEC) conducted its session chaired by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on August 1, 2003. Mr. Mazahir Panahov reported to the participants of the session on the registration of the candidacy to presidency of Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev for the Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan on October 15, 2003. He directed the attention of all participants to the full compatibility of signature sheets and other election documents submitted for registration of the candidacy to presidency of Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev with requirements of the Election Code.

 


CEC adopted a decision on registration of the candidacy to presidency of the Republic of Azerbaijan of Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev.

 


Later, they considered other issues intended in the agenda of the session.

 


Mr. Ingilab Nasirov, CEC Secretary informed commissioners on consideration of appeals to provide the National Congress Party, as well as to Mr. Elshad Musayev whose candidacy to presidency was nominated by the "Boyuk Azerbayjan” ("Great Azerbaijan”) voters’ initiative group with supplementary signature sheets. CEC decided to provide the National Congress Party and Mr. Elshad Musayev, nominated by "Boyuk Azerbayjan” ("Great Azerbaijan”) voters’ initiative group with supplementary signature sheets.

 


In the session, Mr. Ingilab Nasirov, CEC Secretary reported on pre-timely withdrawal from the membership to the Constituency Election Commission (ConEC) in Khachmaz city constituency #55 for the Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan of Mrs. Vafa Adil gizi Damirova with her own request. The Commission decided to comply with the request.

 


In the session, after the report of Mr. Vidadi Mahmudov, CEC Secretary on approval of some document samples related to the Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan was in hearing, these documents were adopted as a basis.

 


At the end, current issues were considered.

 


Representatives of IFES (International Foundation for Election Systems), Baku Office of OSCE/ODIHR, representatives of embassies of Turkey, USA, Japan, Israel, Poland, as well as representatives of foreign and domestic mass media participated in the session.
