Regarding the Municipal Elections, Technical Supervision Center of Webcams visited
Regarding the forthcoming Municipal elections, Mr. Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport and Mr. Ilgar Musayev, Chair of Special Communication and Information Security State Service visited Technical Supervision Center of Webcams located at the CEC premises on January 23, 2025 and they got familiarized with the latest preparation works in the field of installing webcams. Information was provided to the heads of the organizations that implemented the use of webcams in Municipal elections as part of a joint project and in a closely coordinated manner, regarding the final steps taken to install, adjust and fully prepare the webcams for Election Day. During discussions with the specialists involved in the process, the important role of webcams in ensuring the transparency of the elections was emphasized once again. It was also highlighted that strict adherence to the legislative requirements during the installation and adjustment of the webcams is crucial and necessary recommendations were provided.
A briefing for journalists was also held during the event which took place with the direct participation of media representatives.
It was noted that the effective application of the latest innovative achievements of information and communication technologies along with other means used in elections held in Azerbaijan fully ensures further transparency and openness on the voting day.
It was particularly emphasized that the webcam practice successfully applied in our country's election experience for many years, allows the entire voting process at polling stations on Election Day to be observed in real-time, continuously and on an open internet platform, accessible from anywhere in the world without any registration. In terms of creating a comprehensive and broad environment for the comfortable, easy participation and free activities of various transparency institutions in the election process, Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries.
It was also highlighted that considering the exceptional role of webcams in ensuring transparency and openness on Election Day, the Central Election Commission has decided to install webcams in 1000 polling stations across 118 election constituencies in the upcoming Municipal elections and the list of these polling stations has been officially published. On Election Day, internet users, both from within the country and abroad, can access the Central Election Commission's official website and observe all processes at the polling stations—voting, vote counting and result determination—live and without interruption, through these modern webcams which meet the highest standards and provide excellent visual quality without any registration required.
During the briefing media representatives were also informed on the latest preparation works for the Municipal elections and journalists’ questions were responded to.
