CEC held regional seminar dedicated to election dispute resolution in Ganja

In regard with the Municipal Elections in the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed to January 29, 2025, regional seminar was held in Ganja city within the joint project of the Central Election Commission (CEC) with the Ministry of Interior.

The event was attended by the representatives of CEC and Ministry of Interior, as well as, chairmen of the Constituency Election Commissions (Con.ECs) on the region, representatives of police offices and departments.

Mr. Baksheyish Asgarov, CEC Member stated that high-level preparations are underway for the upcoming Municipal elections. In order to ensure the transparent and fair conduct of the elections, as well as to educate election participants with different status, various projects are being carried out in the regions.

Later, Mr.Tofir Hasanov, CEC Member presented on “Election stakeholders, their rights and duties. Prevention of undue intervention in the activity of election stakeholders”. During the seminar conference Mr. Senan Aliyev, Chief of office at Public Security Office under the Ministry of Interior informed on the rights and duties of the police in ensuring public tranquility on the day of holding elections and in the period of election campaign, undertaking security measures during transfer of ballot papers and other electoral documents to Constituency Election Commissions and Central Election Commission in post-election period.

After the speeches on the role and responsibilities of police officers defined by legislation during the preparation phase for the Municipal elections, the pre-election campaign period, as well as on Election Day and the proceeding processes had been heard, a discussion took place and questions were answered.

It should be noted that the project developed due to inter-institutional cooperation will proceed to the next stage with events to be held on January 17 in Shaki, January 18 in Shirvan, and on January 21 in Nakhchivan with the participation of Con.EC chairpersons and representatives of law enforcement agencies from the regions.
