CEC Chairman met with CIS observation mission delegation
On August 13, 2024 Mr. Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) met with a delegation led by Mr. Nurlan Seytimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), who is on the official trip to the country for monitoring the forthcoming Elections to the Milli Majlis.
Having welcomed the members of the observation mission, Mr. Mazahir Panahov expressed his gratitude of the meeting in the eve of the Elections to the Milli Majlis. Chairman emphasized the CEC's dedication to openness and transparency in the elections and he noted that CEC values mutually beneficial relationships with international organizations and plans to continue and further deepen these relations.
Deputy Secretary General Mr. Seytimov expressed his gratitude to the CEC Chairman for the warm reception despite the tight schedule. Head of the delegation informed that CIS long-term observers have already begun their activities, closely monitoring election preparations in Baku and the regions.
Chairman Mr. M.Panahov emphasized on the conduct of the Elections to the Milli Majthe within the all sovereign territories of Azerbaijan for the first time, also provided detailed information about the operational principles of election commissions, large-scale educational projects for various election participants, steps taken to update voter lists, and final preparatory work for the elections, meanwhile, answered the questions of international observers.
Deputy Secretary General thanked to the CEC Chairman for the comprehensive information and expressed his sureness of the conduct of free, fair and transparent Elections to the Milli Majlis as implied in the legislation, thereby contributing to the future development of Azerbaijan.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed and views were shared within the frame of the meeting.
