Seminar-conference dedicated to service activity of the police in the Elections to the Milli Majlis was held in Nakhchivan

Regarding with the early Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed to September 1, 2024, seminar conference was held in Nakhchivan within the frame of the co-project of the Central Election Commission with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Firstly, the dear memory of our National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs was commemorated with a minute's silence at the seminar-conference organized in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the autonomous republic. The event was attended by representatives of the Central Election Commission and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the chairmen of the 6 Constituency Election Commissions (Con.ECs) of the autonomous republic, employees of police offices and departments.

Ilham Mammadov, a member of the Central Election Commission, congratulated Azerbaijani judoka Hidayet Heydarov on winning the gold medal by defeating Frenchman John Benjamin Gaba at the Summer Olympic Games held in Paris, the capital of France, and spoke about the importance of the seminar-conference.

Javid Jafarov, Chief of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, spoke about the roles and duties of police officers defined by legislation in the preparation and holding of the elections to the Milli Majlis, in the period of election campaign, as well as on the voting day and in proceeding periods.

Later, Ilkin Shahbazov, a member of the Central Election Commission, spoke about the election stakeholders, their rights and duties, and prevention of undue intervention in the activity of election stakeholders.

Mr. Senan Aliyev, Chief of the Department of Main Public Security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, informed on the rights and duties of the police in ensuring public tranquility in the period of election campaign and on the day of holding elections, undertaking security measures during transfer of ballot papers and other electoral documents to Constituency Election Commissions and Central Election Commission in post-election period.

At the end, the questions of the participants of the seminar-conference were responded to.
