A Project Dedicated to Increasing Women's Activity in the Elections to the Milli Majlis has been implemented
On July 24, 2024 a round table was organized at the Radisson Hotel in Baku as part of a joint project between the Central Election Commission (CEC) and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs in connection with the early Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed to September 1, 2024.
This project, implemented based on the CEC’s extensive educational program involving election participants with different status, was dedicated to discussing the broad and comprehensive opportunities created to further enhance the activity of Azerbaijani women in the upcoming elections, whose active roles and purposeful activities in society are strengthening day by day.
The event commenced with welcome and opening speeches by Mr. Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission and Ms. Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs. They emphasized the significance of various projects developed through close inter-institutional cooperation in terms of improving women’s free and independent participation in elections, raising their awareness and enhancing their activity.
Following the opening speeches, presentations by representatives of the CEC and the State Committee for Family, Women, and Children’s Affairs were heard in accordance with the agenda of the round table. The participants were thoroughly informed about the constitutional foundations of the election right, the forms of its execution and implementation, as well as the opportunities to further increase the activity of women in the Elections the Milli Majlis.
Along with the leaders and other representatives of the CEC and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children’s Affairs, the representatives of organizations addressing women’s issues, civil society institutions and public associations also participated in the event.
The round table was finalized after extensive discussions on various topics related to women participation in elections and clarification of the questions raised during the session.
