Seminar Conference Held by the Central Election Commission in Nakhchivan

Yesterday, within the framework of a joint project with the Supreme Court and the Courts of Appeal, the Central Election Commission (CEC) initiated regional seminar conferences dedicated to the judicial resolution of election disputes in the upcoming early Parliamentary elections. As part of these events, a seminar conference on this topic was held today at the Nakhchivan "ASAN service" center.

The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs.

Speaking on the importance of the event, Mr. Bakhsheyish Asgerov, Member of the Central Election Commission stated that such activities are crucial in reducing the number of complaints during elections and ensuring fair resolutions to complaints. He emphasized that 25 out of 26 registered political parties are participating in the elections and stressed the importance of strictly adhering to legal requirements in realizing citizens' voting rights, providing necessary recommendations in this regard. He expressed hope that complaints addressed to the CEC and from the CEC to the court would be resolved at the first stage through these events.

Mr. Sakhavat Novruzov, Judge of the Supreme Court of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic stated that complaints shall be investigated in accordance with the requirements of the Administrative Procedural Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Complaints against court decisions on the case can be filed to the Supreme Court within three days from the date the decision is fully submitted. Complaints shall be investigated within three days, or within two days if less than 30 days remain before the voting day (but no later than the voting day), and applications received on the voting day or afterward shall be addressed immediately.

Later, Mr. Mushvig Hasanov, Judge of the Supreme Court presented on "The Application of Legislation by Courts Regarding the Protection of Voting Rights in Elections and Court Cases Related to the Protection of Voting Rights." Mr. Ilgar Alizadeh, Head of the Secretariat of the Central Election Commission spoke about the "Principles and Features of Investigating Complaints and Appeals Related to Violations of Voting Rights by Election Commissions in the Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan."

The seminar conference was finalized with an exchange of views and discussions on the judicial resolution of election disputes.
