Regional seminar-conference on judicial resolution of election disputes held in Shirvan

In accordance with the educational program of the Central Election Commission in connection with the early Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed to September 1, 2024, the next activities on the country - within the framework of a joint project with the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, from July 22, 2024 the regional seminars dedicated to the judicial resolution of election disputes have been started.

The seminar-conference in Shirvan was attended by judges of regional courts of appeal, as well as, chairmen of Constituency Election Commissions. The seminar-conference started with speeches by Mr. Fuad Javadov, CEC Member and Mr. Elchin Hasmammadov, Vice Chair of Shirvan Court of Appeal. In their speeches, they drew attention to the importance of strictly following the requirements of the legislation in realizing the electoral rights of citizens.

After the opening speeches, Mr. Ilkin Shahbazov, Member of the Central Election Commission and Mr. Samir Hasanov, Judge of the Shirvan Court of Appeal presented on "Principles and features of investigating complaints and appeals by election commissions related to the violation of the electoral rights of citizens in the Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan", "Features of proceedings in cases related to the protection of electoral rights in court" ” presentations were heard. The participants were given detailed information about the requirements of the Election Code regarding appeals and complaints, as well as the experience of applying the legislation related to the protection of the right to vote by the courts, and the questions interesting to the participants were clarified.

At the seminar-conference, opinions were exchanged and discussions were held regarding the judicial resolution of election disputes.
