The Central Election Commission (CEC) conducted the following session chaired by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on December 19, 2023.

Firstly, the issue on the verification of candidacy by Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev, nominated for Presidency of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the New Azerbaijan Party was considered at the session.

It was informed that Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chair of the New Azerbaijan Party was nominated for the early Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan, appointed to February 7, 2024 by the Session Decision of Board of Directors of the New Azerbaijan Party, dated 15 December 2023.

The documents for the verification of the nomination were submitted to CEC by the party’s authorized representative on December 16, 2023. In this regard, the relevant investigation was held within the timeframe and manner as implied in the Election Code and grounds were defined to verify the nominated candidacy.

The Commission verified the candidacy of Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev nominated by the New Azerbaijan Party in the early Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan, appointed to February 7, 2024.

Later, the authorized representatives and authorized representative on financial issues presented by the New Azerbaijan Party in the foregoing elections were registered.

During the session attended by the media outlets representatives, the compositions of some Constituency Election Commissions were made changes and current issues were also discussed.
