Central Election Commission conducted a session on February 05, 2020
The Central Election
Commission (CEC) conducted the following session chaired by Mr. Mazahir Panahov
on February 5, 2020.
Firstly, the statement
of CEC was heard. Emphasizing on the guarantee of election rights of the
Azerbaijan citizens who were expelled from their native lands at the result of
Armenian invasion in the elections and referenda conducted in the country so
far and lack of discrimination among citizens due to nationality, the Central
Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan states that Azerbaijan
citizens of Armenian origin of Nagorno Karabakh region of Azerbaijan are
entitled to exercise their voting rights freely and independently in these elections
like all other citizens and the Republic of Azerbaijan is ready to put all
steps implied in the legislation.
Later, the session minute
of the Commission, dated 27 January 2020 was approved. Afterwards, it was
decided to install webcams in 1000 (thousand) polling stations on 119 election
constituencies upon the principle of covering the whole territory of the
country excluding the occupied areas with the aim of monitoring the voting day
procedures in polling stations from the beginning till the end incessantly and continuously regarding the Elections to the
Milli Majlis on February 9, 2020.
During the session the
issue on the registration of authorized representatives by the United
Azerbaijan Party in the Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of
Azerbaijan was considered and the persons presented by the foregoing party were
registered as authorized representatives.
During the session CEC
reviewed the appeals filed in connection with the Elections to the Milli Majlis,
dated February 9, 2020. After discussing the appeals with the participation of
the interested stakeholders of the election process, a decision of the relevant
Con.EC on the registration of a candidate was annulled, a badge provided to the
candidate was considered invalid and therewith, an election stakeholder was
made warning.
Current
issues were also considered at the session attended by representatives of
international election observation missions, foreign organizations and mass
media.
