The Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov met with the representatives of leading mass media of Russia

Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) met with the representatives of leading mass media of Russia on October 27, 2015.

The Chairman M.Panahov expressed his gratitude of the meeting upon the welcoming the
members of the foreign media in the CEC administrative buildingand informed that elections in Azerbaijan are always observed with great interest by both local and international community. There are all conditions for conduction free, fair and transparent elections. All kinds of conditions have been created for local and international observers, also for local and international mass media, and other transparency institutions to operate freely. The result of this is that about 500 international observers out of 40 international organizations, numerous political parties, bloc of political parties, non-governmental organizations, also more than 63000 local observers who represent civil society institutions and registered candidates, joined individually to track the elections will observe the the Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan of current year. All appeals addressed to the CEC in order to conduct "exit-poll” in the elections were upheld and 4 organizations were registered, 2 of them will hold their works jointly with international organizations. Besides to all above-mentioned, web cameras have been installed in the 1000 polling stations covering whole territory of the country, as another means for ensuring transparency. It gives opportunity to the internet users from all over the world to observe voting, counting of the voices and identifying process of results online in the Voting Day continuously, widely and thoroughly from beginning to the end without coming to Azerbaijan, by entering to the website of CEC without any registration required. All election commissions headed by CEC are ready to conduct free and fair elections to the Milli Majlis. Citizens of Azerbaijan can express their will without any obstacle, freely and independently by coming to the polling stations.

Chairman Mazahir Panahov informed foreign journalists on election system, election law of
Republic of Azerbaijan and wide-scale projects carried out for improvement of election practice and replied to the emerged questions.

During the meeting attended by CEC members, directory and co-workers of the Secretariat, also representatives of local mass media, foreign journalists familiarized closely with activities of Commission on the eve of
elections to the Milli Majlis and final works carried out regarding to various projects.
