Trainings on improving candidates' registration procedures start through the joint project of Central Election Commission with European Union

Educational trainings on improving candidates’ registration procedures started through the joint project of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the European Union.

Mr.Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission and Mrs.Malena Mard, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan participated in the opening ceremony of the event in Park Inn Hotel of Baku on August 14, 2015. Having opened the training, CEC Chairman and Ambassador of the European Union spoke about efficient mutual cooperation between the organizations and wished success to participants upon emphasizing great importance of the trainings on improving candidates’ registration procedures further through the collaboration of the Central Election Commission with the European Union regarding the forthcoming Elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and special role of such activities in awareness-raising of lower election commission members.

Later, international experts and CEC members made presentations on different subjects concerning legal requirements for candidate registration, nomination and registration procedures of candidates, provided detailed information by using visual aids, held discussions and replied to the participants’ questions.

It is worth noting that this stage of the broad educational project targets awareness-raising and improving business skills of the members of Constituency Election Commissions in relation with candidates’ registration procedures. The project also includes the preparation of video clip on candidates’ registration procedures, thus to raise awareness of broader audience.

The trainings that have started since August 14, 2015 will last till August 19, 2015 to be held in Baki, Shirvan, Ganja and Sheki and will cover totally 250 officials of lower election commissions with two representatives from each of 125 Constituency Election Commissions.
