Voter turnout is 38,93% on the country in Municipal Elections according to preliminary results

Municipal Elections in Azerbaijan ended at 19.00 and all the polling stations are closed. According to the information submitted to the Central election Commission (CEC), one million 876 thousand 14 persons of 4 million 819 thousand 382 voters participated in the voting.

AzerTac stated that Mr.Rufat Gulmammadov, head of Information Centre of the CEC Secretariat had informed on that. He pointed out that according to preliminary results, voter turnout was 38,93% in these Municipal Elections.

Mr.Gulmammadov emphasized that CEC "Hotline”, "Facebook” page and e-mail had received more than 138 appeals. The appeals aimed at getting additional information on the voting process. All the appeals were replied to in an operative manner by the officials. Not any complaint was registered.

Let’s note that 37,077 candidates for 15,035 municipality memberships on 1607 municipalities participated in the elections. 13,907 of the candidates have been nominated by 8 political parties, 23,061 on their own initiatives and 109 by initiative groups. 18,284 of the candidates joining elections are independent. Totally, there are representatives of 30 political parties among candidates. Webcams have been installed in 1000 polling stations on 118 election constituencies in the country, which constituted 20% of the polling stations. In general, the number of the observers registered in these elections has exceeded 50 thousand. More than 26 thousand of them are representatives of political parties.
