Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on September 13, 2008.
Firstly, Commission adopted decisions on the registration of candidacies of Mr. Gulamhuseyn Surkhay oghlu Alibayli nominated on his own initiative and Mr. Fuad Aghasi oghlu Aliyev, candidate of Azerbaijan Liberal Democrats Party. And candidacy of Mr. Ali Isa Haji oghlu Aghaevli was refused to be registered. Mr. Faig Nasir oghlu Bakhsheliyev appointed by Modern Musavat Party was approved to be a member having consultative right at CEC.Mr. Natig Mammadov, CEC Secretary reported on the establishment of "Lottery commission” for the conduct of airtime division allocated on free bases in Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed on October 15, 2008. CEC decided to establish "Lottery commission” at CEC in the aim of airtime division allocated on free bases by Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Company in Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan. As to this decision, lottery date was appointed on September 17, 2008 at 12.00 and "Lottery commission” was charged with ensuring of the above-mentioned airtime division.At the session, current issues were considered.At the CEC session, members of OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission and representatives of mass media also took part.
