Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CEC) conducted its session headed by Mr. Mazahir Panahov on September 9, 2008.
Firstly, session minutes by the Commission dated on August 30 and September 4, 2008 were approved.

Later, Mr. Natig Mammadov, CEC Secretary reported on the registration of candidacies of Mr. Fazil Gazanfar oghlu Mustafayev nominated by "Boyuk Gurulush” ("Great Creation”) Party and Mr. Hafiz Alamdar oghlu Hajiyev nominated by Modern Musavat Party. Commission adopted decision on the registration of candidacies of both persons. Registration of Mr. Alimukhtar Dadash oghlu Akbarov nominated on his own initiative was refused.
CEC terminated candidate status of Mr. Suleyman Ughuz oghlu Guliyev whose candidacy has been approved.
Commission adopted decision on the registration of 50 persons presented by the New Azerbaijan Party as agents of Mr. Ilham Heydar oghlu Aliyev nominated by this party and registered by CEC.
CEC approved text and format of the ballot paper related to Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointed on October 15, 2008 and decided that in total, 4.903.600 ballot papers shall be prepared at the press of the Apparatus of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the observation of 3 members of CEC based on CEC representation.
CEC terminated authorities of Mr. Azer Kamal oghlu Amiraslanov, Deputy of the third call Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, elected on Shamkir city Con.EC # 98 in Parliamentary Elections conducted on November 6, 2005.
Commission adopted decisions on making amendments in the compositions of some Con.ECs.
At the session, current issues were also considered.
At the CEC session, members of OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission, representatives of OSCE Baku office, the Council of Europe, International Republican Institute, IFES and massmedia also took part.
