The Central Election Commission held a seminar on the process of registration of candidates in municipal elections
In connection with the municipal elections scheduled for January 29, 2025, within the framework of the Central Election Commission's awareness program, projects in different directions are being continued for election subjects of different statuses.
According to the large-scale program, a seminar on the process of registration of candidates in municipal elections was organized on December 19. It should be noted that this project involving the working groups under the constituency election commissions in order to verify the accuracy of the information contained in the signature sheets and the documents attached to them for the registration of candidacy, was carried out in the traditional way, and made important contributions to the further improvement of their activities, and the last such short measure It was carried out during the Milli Majlis elections in our country some time ago. Taking into account all the above, this seminar is dedicated to a full practical discussion of various relevant issues and cases that have arisen in practice at a stage where the process of nominating and registering candidates in municipal elections is dynamic and intensive.
The seminar started with the opening speech of Rovzat Gasimov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission. In his speech, in addition to a number of points, he spoke about the educational projects implemented by the Commission in a consistent and systematic manner and emphasized the importance of these projects in conducting elections at a high level, free, fair and transparent. R.Gasimov also reminded that the working groups operating under the constituency election commissions have a great responsibility in ensuring the passive electoral rights of citizens directly established by the Constitution in the municipal elections, and emphasized the need for them to strictly follow the requirements of the legislation while performing their duties and powers.
After the opening of the event, according to the agenda, the Commission members' presentations were heard on the affiliation of passive suffrage in municipal elections and its realization possibilities, legislative bases and rules of the candidate registration process, as well as practical aspects of the working group's activity and the gained experience. The participants were informed in detail about the topics with presentations using visual aids.
The practical part of the seminar continued its work with a wide discussion and question-and-answer session on various issues related to nomination and registration of candidacy in municipal elections.
In the seminar, which was widely covered by representatives of media outlets, the head of the working group operating under each of the constituency election commissions for each of the 118 constituencies where the municipal elections were held in order to check the accuracy of the information contained in the signature sheets submitted for registration of candidacy and the documents attached to them participated.
