The seminar-conference on election-related dispute resolution started

Regarding the early presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan, appointed to February 7, 2024, the Central Election Commission (CEC) continues large-scale educational projects on various fields for different election stakeholders.

In accordance with the educational program of CEC, the following events - regional seminar-conferences dedicated to the election-related dispute resolution started within the frame of the co-project with the Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal have started from January 8, 2024.

 

The opening of the project and the first seminar-conference started with the introductory speech by Mr. Mazahir Panahov, CEC Chairman and Mr. Inam Karimov, Chair of the Supreme Court and Judicial-Legal Council on January 8, 2024 at Hilton hotel in Baku.

 

Later, pursuant to the agenda, the responible officials of CEC, Supreme Court and Baku Court of Appeal made report on the rules for filing appeals and complaints on the violation of citizens’ election rights to election commissions and their investigation, application experience of the legislation by courts regarding the protection of the election rights and court execution of the activities on legal remedy of election rights in the Presidential elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the end of the seminar-conference attended by CEC members, employees of the relevant structural bodies of the CEC Secretariat, judges of regional courts of appeal and chairpersons of Con.ECs, many actual discussions on the issues of court jurisdiction of election dispute resolution were held and the questions interesting to the participants were replied to.

 

It should be noted that the main purpose of the implementation of the foregoing project is to organize the upcoming elections at top-level, along with all works implemented in the direction of conducting elections freely, fairly and transparently, to improve the level of knowledge, skills and awareness of Con.ECs regarding the resolution of election disputes and increasing the effectiveness of steps taken in this field, as well as guarantee of citizens’ voting rights more effectively.

 

The following stage of the seminar-conference dedicated to the court jurisdiction of election dispute resolution is scheduled to be carried out on January 10 in Ganja, Nakhchivan, Sheki and Shirvan, covering the relevant judicial authorities and Con.ECs.
