The Central Election Commission started seminars on procedures for the registration of candidates to municipality membership

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is continuing its multi-targeted projects to ensure free, fair and transparent Municipal Elections scheduled for December 23, 2019, as well as to guarantee citizens' electoral rightsmore effectively.

Another project was launched on October 24 within the CEC education program in Municipal Elections. The event, dedicated to the registration process for municipal membership candidates is held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baku.

During the seminar opened with an introductory speech by
RovzatGasimov, CEC Deputy Chairman, presentations made byCEC members and Secretariat employeeson legal requirements for the registration of candidates in the Municipal Elections, as well as the nomination and registration procedures were heard, detailed information was provided upon using visual aids and the questions interesting the participants were replied to.In addition, to get familiar with, each participant was submitted guidebook for candidates to municipality membership compiled by the CEC.

It should be noted that the event, which is being implemented as a large-scale education project, aims to improve the knowledge and professional skills of ConstituencyElection Commissions and theirawareness-raising on nomination and registration of candidates for Municipal Elections.

Widely broadcasted by the mass media, the seminar will last for two days and cover the country's 125 constituency election commissions. Nearly, 250 officials of lower election commissions including two representatives from each of the election constituencies where the elections are held – chairman and heads of the working groups under Con.ECs to check the accuracy of the information signature sheets and attached documents submitted for the registration of the candidates to municipality membership will take part at the events.
